 What is airbrush tanning?
Airbrush tanning is the process of airbrushing on DHA solution through specially made equipment in a fine mist. DHA is a safe, natural sunless solution that is sprayed on by a trained technician that leaves you with a natural looking tan for up to 10 days! Unlike the sun or UV rays our product is not harmful for your skin, gives you instant color and that healthy looking glow you are looking for within minutes!
What is DHA & can children or pregnant women be airbrushed for events?
YES! No studies have proven that DHA is bad for the above clients, however we always recommend double checking with your physician. DHA is FDA approved for cosmetic use and has been used safely for the past 40 years. It is also in certain tanning products/lotions/bronzing creams etc. The main ingredient DHA (dihydroxyacetone) is a sugar derivative that reacts with the amino acids from the TOP layer of your skin, which creates the bronzed look with no orange tones. With the DHA reacting with the top layers of dead skin, there are no long lasting or damaging effects that the sun or UV rays can cause. This type os sunless application looks very similar in color to a standard, UV based tan suntan, except you are able to achieve the equivalent color of many hours of intense UV or SUN exposure in one single product application. This product is HIGHLY recommended for those clients that cannot get color in UV free beds or only burn in the sun and as a healthy alternative to those who like to stay tan all year round.
Are there any special preparations for my airbrush tan?
Yes! Either on the night before, or the morning of your airbrush tanning session, please shower, shave and use an oil-free exfoliate to rid of dead skin. Please wax at least two days in advance. You will not want to have any makeup, deodorant or lotions on as these products act as a barrier to the sunless solution. Exfoliating promotes an even coverage and lengthens the duration of your tan by removing dead skin cells that would otherwise flake off.
What should I wear?
You are required to wear underwear, besides that, please feel free to wear whatever you are comfortable in. Bra, tank, shorts, thong and topless, bathing suit etc.
How long is the appointment?
In salon takes about 15 minutes and mobile is about 30 minutes. Parties take about an hour per 5-7 clients.
When will I see results?
Immediately, due to the cosmetic bronzers in the solution. This is the color you will see "wash off" in your first shower about 8 hours afterward. It is NOT your tan washing off.
How long will the tan last?
The average client reports 7 days and fades similar to that of a natural tan, but reports of clients say that one solution is about 5-7 days while the other color is 7-10 days. Everyone's skin is different so it depends on how your skin exfoliates naturally and how you prep and maintain your tan. Results can take up to 12 hours to process the darkest color for your skin, so the longer you wait to shower the better. Your skin should be 1-2 shades darker after your application with it lasting longer and getting darker as you keep up with your sunless appts.
What do I wear after and how do I prolong my tan?
You will want to wear dark, loose fitting clothing after your application that will be easy to slide on and off. Please avoid showering or excessive sweating until your first shower and do not apply lotions, makeup etc. until after your shower. Moisturize daily after your shower to keep skin from exfoliating faster.
The following information will help you prolong your tan:- Please do not shower for 6-8 hours your tan is still processing. 12 hours is peak time, so if you can wait until then...better!!
- After your first shower you should moisturize twice daily; dry skin will flak and peel causing your tan to fade
- Please DO NOT exfoliate (Loofas, Scrubs etc.) until the day before your touch up. That or once you start to exfoliate please do so once every couple days to esur
- Please read the products you use daily, anything that says alcohol, alpha, hydroxy, DO NOT USE! These are drying agents and will fade your tan quicker (Dove soap, bath& body works and some Victorias secret lotions)
- Limit swimming and being in water with Chlorine as it is a bleaching agent
NEVER USE A OVER THE COUNTER BRONZING CREAM OR TINT OVER YOUR SUNLESS SOLUTION! THIS WILL CAUSE YOU TO LOOK ORANGE!
